Education and Community
The Newark Symphony is committed to educating young students and building on their musical foundation, both as performers and as audience members. Several programs are available through the NSO to encourage young musicians:
Students in 12th grade and under are admitted to any of the NSO concerts free of charge with accompanying adult. To obtain these tickets in advance, write to: info@newarksymphony.org or call 302-369-3466. Complimentary student tickets are always available at the Box Office.
“Instruments in the Attic” Program
“Instruments in the Attic” solicits donations of instruments from our patrons; we refurbish and grant these instruments to middle and high school students who otherwise would not be able to own their instruments. Music students in the greater Newark region, are encouraged to complete a grant application, and are selected on this basis. Cash donations toward refurbishing costs are also accepted.

Family Concert
Musicians from the NSO are committed to performing a Family Concert in Newark, where children have a chance to experience live classical music in a fun and developmentally appropriate atmosphere.
Audience members are invited to make a good-will donation for admission. The concert is recommended for children 5-years old and up, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Instrument Petting Zoo
Musicians from the NSO represent all families of instruments after the Family Concert, in order to give students a chance to get hands on experience with the instruments.
Ensembles at schools or civic events
Small ensembles from the NSO are available to make educational presentations in schools or at civic events. Contact info@newarksymphony.org or call 302-369-3466 for more information.
